My friend Serena welcomed home her husband from Iraq a few weeks ago and asked me to take pictures at the airport. I was honored. Here is my favorite image I captured that day.

New Policy

After a lot of thought, I have decided to adopt a new policy. I will now charge a booking fee. The booking fee for a full session is $50 and is due at the time of booking. The booking fee for a full session will go towards the session fee if you keep the date, or reschedule within 48 hours of your session. The booking fee for a free or special session (such as a military R&R session) is $20. If you order a disk with your session the $20 will go towards the disk if you keep your date, or reschedule within 48 hours. All booking fees are non refundable. If you choose to cancel your session the fee you will not be reimbursed. You will have 1 week to pay this booking fee after you have called and booked your session, if the fee is not payed the date you booked will open up again to other clients.

Thank you for your continued business and support. I have now have 2 openings this summer and am currently booking for fall.

I know a lot of my fellow army wives are getting to see there deployed husbands soon for R&R so I have decided to do an R&R special. To be eligible for the sweet deal your spouse or child must be on leave from a deployment from either Iraq or Afghanistan and must show proof. Here is the deal:

As many of you may know, my husband is being deployed. Because of this life changing event I have made some important decisions pertaining to my business. As of August 2010 I will no longer be booking weddings. I may come back in the future, but for now I do not have the dedication and time needed to take and edit wedding sessions. I will still be booking engagement and bridal sessions and of coarse all the other portrait sessions, but no weddings until further notice. I believe this is the best decision for me and my family and I hope you will all understand.

I also will be closed for business until October 2010. I can still be contacted to book your October session, but will not be taking any more sessions for the months of August and September.

I went out tonight and had fun taking pictures with my little sister, my husband, my daughter and two of my favorite cousins. After I took the above picture of my beautiful little sister we went to take pictures down by the river off of west bridge street in Blackfoot, we took some great ones by the cute wood bridge. We started heading back into the trees and saw a dog clear back by the river so we tried staying up in the front. We had quite a group of people, it was my husband, my little sister, my daughter, 2 of my cousins and pregnant me. We went a little farther back and saw a bearded man back by the fire pit. I recognized him from back in April when I had a session there with a senior. We stayed far away the day of that session because it was just Katie and me and the look of him frightened us. Well today the second we got a little closer, but still at a distance that man flipped out. He started yelling and swearing at us saying things like "Get out of here" and "What the **** is this a family reunion." It was very scary and I am grateful that my husband was around. My sister, Kellie and I started running out of the trees and back to the cars. My sister had my daughter, I followed her and then came my cousin Dustin. Thomas and cousin Alex stayed back to make sure he wasn't coming after us. Apparently while they were back there he was coming at them. Thomas was ready to defend his family and so was Alex. Luckily a guy across the river yelled for the bearded man to knock it off and leave us alone. The bearded man then threatened the guy across the river saying he was going to shoot him. Thomas and Alex then came to the car and I insisted my husband call the cops. We drove over by the boat ramp and sat there while he talked to the cops. They said they would send someone. We sat and waiting for the cop to come for about 15 mins. Eleanor, my daughter started crying and was getting kinda upset. We then decided to leave. As we were pulling out we saw the bearded man walking out too. He saw us and started chasing after us. We hurried and drove away.

I really just wanted to warn everyone of this man. He might be gone now, but who knows if he will be back. I don't know if he has a gun or if he is even dangerous or just all talk, but I do know that he is scary. I do not think any of us should go down there without a husband or friend who can check things out and protect. I am very grateful I was not down there alone because it could have turned out very differently.

As many of you know I am offering a free session for military families of the 116th Cavalry Brigade of the Idaho Army National Guard before their loved one is deployed. I have had more people book recently and have decided I do not have time to do sessions all through the summer. My husband is being deployed with the 116th and we would love to have lots of family time before he leaves, because of this I have set aside specific dates for these sessions. Soren is like a little brother to me and our families have always been really close. Well Soren is heading out an LDS mission in 2 weeks to Washington D.C. I have had a lot of experiences lately that have made me realize that I am growing as a photography and my business is getting more acknowledged. Today I had the opportunity to be interviewed by KIDK channel 3. They asked me questions about the free sessions I am offering to the troops being deployed and I am hoping this helps more of the military families know about it. My little sister Kellie was generous enough to pose for me while they recorded! I decided I wanted to post of picture of her I took in 2007, almost 3 years ago to illustrate my progress. My brother in law Nathaniel was married to his sweetheart Kristen yesterday in the Rexburg LDS temple. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and everything went so well. The light was perfect and I got so many great shots I had a hard time choosing which ones to post... which is why this is a long post. Congrats Nathaniel and Kristen!

The reception was absolutely amazing! The Olbeter's came up with everything and it looked beautiful. And to add to all the beautiful decorations there were trays and trays of delicious food. As the bride and groom left everyone blew bubbles or held sparklers. It looked pretty neat.

My mom asked me to take some pictures of her and her granddaughters this spring break. I was looking forward to it and then I looked outside this morning. Because of the nasty weather, we decided to take some pictures inside with my backdrops. They turned out awesome!

I just want to say that my mom is the most amazing woman I know. She is an amazing grandmother to my daughter and my nieces. They all love her so much. She is also the best mom in the world and she is absolutely beautiful! I love you mom!

oh my heck... the lighting today was so wonderful! I always knew lighting was important, but until today I really didn't realize how much it can make a picture. These photos are some of the best I have ever taken when it comes to the lighting. I love them!

We were up at my Grandpa's cabin this weekend in Island Park. My cousin Dustin couldn't stay the whole weekend so he was only there for about an hour of the time that I was there, but he still wanted me to get a few shots of him on his snowboard. I was way bummed that nobody else had a snowboard because I have fallen in love with capturing the jumps and all that, but I got some awesome shots of Dustin! Here are a few I have had a chance to look at. I can't wait to edit some more.

It was FREEZING cold today, it was way windy and it just made things really cold, but Nathaniel and Kristen were so awesome and let me take their pics today anyways and I am SO glad we did. I had the opportunity of taking pictures of my beautiful nieces this weekend... or should I say the poor girls were forced to sit and pose for me haha. I wish I had a studio so they could walk around freely instead of having to stay in a VERY small area. Anyways here are some of my favorites!

Senior Reps

Heather Sellers Photography is currently accepting applications for Senior Reps for the year 2010-2011. We are looking for 2 reps from each local high school. This is mainly for Snake River and Blackfoot, but if you are from any other surrounding area high school and are interested- APPLY!

What must I be?
On track to graduate in Spring 2011
Outgoing
Photogenic

What do I get out of it?
1 free on location session (up to 3 hours)
1 CD of 10 images to put on your facebook, my space, etc. (not for printing)
1 proofing gallery of up to 30 images to order from
your announcements designed for free
100+ senior rep cards
$5 print credit for every friend you refer that books a session with me

How does it work?
You will receive a free individual session to be taken before July 2010. We will also be doing a few big group sessions. I will make some rep cards for you and you will receive your CD by August 2010. Next all you have to do is hand out your rep cards to friends, family, other seniors, show everyone your pictures on facebook and my space and promote Heather Sellers Photography to the best of your ability. For every rep card that is brought to me you receive $5 printing credit. Once you have referred 5 friends you will receive another 90 minute session. You may also receive bonuses when you reach 10, 20 or 30 referrals. By 2011 if referred at least 5 friends to me you will receive a free mini session to be taken between January and April.

Is there a catch?
This is a fun and exciting opportunity for both of us. You’ll earn print credits, free sessions and more. All I ask is that if you become a senior rep you put time and effort into doing the best job possible. Reps who do not have at least 2 referrals by March 2010 will be required to pay the $200 session fee that was waived at the time of your original session.

The only other thing I ask of you as my representative is that you do not represent any other studio during the year of 2010-2011. If you become a senior rep for Heather Sellers Photography we expect you to promote us and only us.

Your parents must be okay with you being a rep. They need to be willing to sign a release allowing Heather Sellers to use your photos for our website and other advertising purposes.

I had a great day today at a wedding. My great friend and roommate from college got married in the Twin Falls LDS temple today. Erika and Dan are absolutely perfect for each other. We had a great shoot. It was FREEZING cold, but the lighting was AMAZING! We had a lot of fun and I got so many great shots!
